Nuoc Mam: Whether you love it or you hate it, nothing says Vietnamese food more than nuoc mam (fish sauce). Fish sauce is the most widely used flavouring agent, also dubbed the Vietnamese ketchup. Not recommended on chips/fries.

Muc Mot Nang: A trip to Phan Thiet isn’t complete without first trying “one day dried squid”. This appetizer is usually served with an assortment of dipping condiments such as a chili or pepper lime sauce.

Con Dong: These lizards are a local speciality and quite tasty. They can be barbecued with lemongrass and chilli or prepared in a soup with tamarind and noodles. One kilo is sold for around VND350,000 to VND400,000.
