Ho Tram Strip Resort Casino Vietnam

Opened in July 2013, Ho Tram Strip Resort Casino is an integrated casino resort – the only one of its kind in Vietnam, with live blackjack, baccarat, roulette and poker games available indoors, along with stunning facilities. It’s also the nearest luxury beach destination from Ho Chi Minh City.

The resort is befitting of its name – within the palatial façade sit ten food and beverage outlets, 541 rooms spanning 22 floors in The Grand Ho Tram Strip building, two large pools, a beach area and multiple facilities and activities for both kids and adults on a site surrounded by protected natural forest. A second building is being constructed that will push the total rooms to 1,100.

The surprise comes from how well the place manages to function without any major international gambling company holding the strings – original management company MGM pulled out of the venture some time ago, and Ho Tram has been on its own ever since.

The casino resort is an easy two hour ride from Ho Chi Minh City – a free shuttle bus with onboard Wi-Fi is available for all. The secluded location gives the place a sense of freedom, an ease uncommon to big city dwellings. The level of privacy affords a vibe of ever-present excitement, even in such a quiet location.

Still, like Vegas and Macau, there’s a secondary family element that coexists with all the thousand-dollar tables, pool parties and gaming.

Family Activities

For a place of indulgence, Ho Tram Strip Resort Casino Vietnam is surprisingly family friendly.

The Kids Club and Teens Center have enough activities for kids of any age group to be occupied most of the day, from cartoons to video games and pool.

Families get to enjoy varied food and beverage facilities (check out the Wine & Dine section for more information on these), along with the nearby beach area.

Speaking of the beach, there are also a plethora of classes to take and sports to play, including yoga, Tai Chi, jet skiing, volleyball and more.

One of the biggest family draws are the two large pools by the beach, which provide ample splashing area for families looking to cool down in safety.

The hotel product, The Grand Ho Tram Strip, invested a good deal into their rooms. Although balconies are virtually nonexistent due to the strong winds, all rooms, from the Grand Room to Premier Suites and beyond, are modishly decorated, opulent-looking, and come complete with comfy beds and stylish furniture. The rooms are there to make you feel and look wealthy, and they do this quite effectively. All rooms come with free minibars.

Grand Suites are a roomy 89 m2, complete with kitchen, large space, comfortable seating, two bathrooms and is overall double the size of the Grand Room. One of the best features of the suites is the ability to see The Bluffs golf course in its entirety, along with distant mountains and a winding sea. The suite features Lavazza coffee with an accompanying coffee maker.

The Premier Suite measures a palatial 133 m2, include a bar and complete kitchen, and both sea and links course views in a single Suite, with sweeping wall-to-ceiling windows facing two directions. Beyond this are the unimaginably large Royal Suite and Emperor Suite, clocking in at 186 m2 and 345 m2, respectively.

Wine & Dine

You’re not going to run out of dining options quickly at Ho Tram Strip Resort Casino Vietnam. Ten outlets and well over a hundred chefs cater to whatever mood you happen to be in. If you’re craving Cantonese, there’s Ju Bao Xuan; if you want Vietnamese, there’s Ginger and Nam Nam Express; there are also venues for a coffee and quick bite, Korean fare, French cuisine, steak and more.

We recommend you stop by for the breakfast buffet at Ginger and grab a quick lunch at Nam Nam Express, and later in the evening book a table at Ju Bao Xuan for some fine Cantonese dishes or Brasserie for some steak and a decent glass of pinot.

For cigar lovers, Whiskey Bar is a comfy lounge with premium cigars, as well as a decent wine and whiskey list. You can sink into a sofa or bar stool with an appropriate pairing and enjoy an evening of light jazz and posh clientele.

Fans of wines, whiskies and fine spirits will be giddy to find the wall of Club 9 adorned with some of the most affordable high-end alcohols in Vietnam. You’ll spot bottles of Remy Martin Louis XIII – a cognac valued around two thousand dollars, along with Grand Patron, Johnnie Walker King George V and other fine selections in the same price range.

Lower-end drinks are also affordable – beers start at VND 60,000.

This is the only casino in Vietnam that features live dealers – meaning this is the closest you’re going to get to a Vegas or Macau casino environment unless you fly out of the country.

With free drinks and live roulette, baccarat, blackjack and Texas Hold’em games, along with a spacious interior and live music on weekends, the Casino Club 9 at The Ho Tram Strip Resort Casino is a step above anything currently offered in the country. There are over 500 slot machines and 90 table games. If you’re an experienced gambler/high-roller and hold a foreign passport, you’ll have a lot of fun here. For more information on the casino, check out our comprehensive casino guide.

Spa and golf facilities are offered as further indulgences, and neither is a simple tack-on to fatten the casino resort brochure. The Bluffs 18-hole course was designed by golfing legend Greg Norman, and includes a 2,300 m2 clubhouse complete with dining and banquet facilities, a pro shop with the latest golfing equipment, a locker room and more. There is also a driving range open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Recently the course has garnered multiple awards, including The World’s Best New Golf Course, Vietnam’s Best Golf Course and Vietnam’s Best Golf Hotel. The Bluffs also recently hosted the Ho Tram Open, the largest sporting event the country has ever hosted

The spa facilities are, like most things at Ho Tram Strip Resort Casino Vietnam, spacious and well-invested. There is a 24-hour fitness center, sauna, steam rooms, multiple massage rooms, salon, pedicure and manicure stations, and more.

Multiple meeting facilities ensure everything from wedding receptions, banquets and galas to large conventions and conferences get the space they deserve – up to a 2,200 m2 convention center is available for rent.

Here are the resort's meeting and convention amenities:

  • Grand Ballroom with over 1,250 square meters of pillar-less area, which can accommodate up to 1,500 guests, and is divisible into sound-proofed sections
  • Meeting rooms with state-of-the-art technology: high resolution data projection systems, sound and lighting systems and wireless internet access
  • Convenient freight access for large product displays
  • Full service business center
  • Expert meeting planners and teams with on-site AV assistance
  • Exceptional catering, on-site activities and dining

What Can Be Improved

  • The owners did not do the best job with restaurant decor, causing some excellent venues to look aesthetically tacky.
  • At our time there, the pool service staff were inattentive - a sharp contrast to the professionalism we experienced in most of the F&B venues.
  • The last kilometer leading up to the resort is not in great condition, with litter strewn about everywhere. It would help the Strip's image to get this detail handled.

What People Say

With 165 reviews at the time of this writing, the Ho Tram Strip is well established on people's radars. The majority of the reviews range from four to five bubbles, although as of late the reviews have been a mix of three, four and five bubbles. Guests found the hotel rooms to be spectacular, the pools great and the overall resort aesthetically excellent. The complaints mainly revolve around service. Families love the kid-friendly facilities and there are mentions of great food, but guests feel the place can be a bit empty at times.
