PopCorner #2: Hausu
Screams and laughter in vintage movie form? Yes, please! PopCorner is a bi-monthly film screening hosted by San Art Gallery, showcasing cult classics and underground movies. For this screening, art-house movie lovers can look forward to Japanese psychedelic ghost flick, Hausu (1977). This film by director Nobuhiko Obayashi tells the story of seven high-school students’ summer vacation nightmare with plenty of camp, kitsch, and weirdness. The movie will be played with English and Vietnamese subtitles. Thanks to PopCorner, all of the showings are free and snacks are welcome, so you have no excuse to miss this one!

A WEEKEND AWAY
Vibe Nation Music Festival
Ok, so this one isn’t exactly in Ho Chi Minh City. However, it is well worth mentioning. Vibe Nation Beach Festival is only the largest beach music festival to hit Vietnam in 2019! The venue, Hodota Resort and Boating Center, is enough reason to take the short 2-hour bus ride. It’s an absolutely gorgeous beach/lake location with plenty of space and greenery. Combine that with over 80 artists of all genres and 40 performers on 4 stages, plenty of delicious food from some of Saigon’s best eateries, and a vendor market over 3 days and 3 nights. With all that partying, you’ll be happy to know there are plenty of chill zones, a spa, and even workshops and activities to keep you occupied. Grab some friends and head to the beach for Vibe Nation Beach Festival! For more information or to purchase tickets and accommodation, head to their website. But hurry up because they’re almost sold out. And, look out for the special Angee the Diva Best Events: Guide to Vibe Nation Beach Fest!
