The Little Hanoi
After a busy day out in Hanoi, this restaurant provides a nice respite from the maddening traffic and daytime buzzing. Located on the corner of Hang Gai, right by Hanoi’s famous shopping street, the central location means you can spend the day in the Old Quarter and around West Lake, and still be in proximity to the pleasant cafe and eatery.
Opened in 1994, the low-lit space has a French influence, with a cushy wooden theme creating a nice atmosphere to enjoy an afternoon meal or an evening drink. The Little Hanoi serves as a good workspace as well, with a relatively quiet crowd, some tables beside electric outlets and comfortable seating to warrant spending a few hours in the same spot. The accommodating staff will help you settle in well, and are for the most part attentive and polite.
Coffee is provided by Lavazza, so quality can be expected. The menu is a mix of Vietnamese and Western, with tasty options on either end - the sandwiches and burgers are definite recommendations. The cocktails are decent and come evening a gin and tonic or beer goes down well in the cozy environment. The Little Hanoi closes at 10:30 p.m.
