The concept behind Ngon Pho is a simple one: take the best that Vietnamese street food has to offer and recreate it to the highest possible standard. Superbly designed to imitate a traditional outdoor dining experience, you can sit amongst quirky vehicles, outside shop houses and under telephone poles as you enjoy the excellent cuisine.
Located on the third floor of the modern Aeon Mall, Ngon Pho occupies almost the entire floor, and it’s divided into unique enclaves based around the various cuisines on offer.
This huge, sprawling, 2000-capacity eatery is more an experience than a restaurant. It features myriad stalls and eating areas, each one uniquely designed to transport you to new facets of Vietnam’s incredibly diverse and wonderfully tasty food landscape.
With branches in Hanoi, Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City, the chefs at Ngon Pho are perfectly suited to deliver authentic takes on dishes from all three regions, and the twists provided on certain dishes are undeniably excellent.
The outdoor seafood area is particularly noteworthy for its fresh fare and simple, delicious ingredients. The sun-fried squid and tamarind-fried crab are excellent, as are the West Lake Shrimp Cakes.
Where Ngon Pho comes into its own, though, is the hot pot menu. A traditional Vietnamese dining experience, the hot pot allows you to pick your ingredients and simmer them to perfection in a delicious broth. Group deals allow you to enjoy a huge variety of foods for bargain prices, and the more people you eat with, the better deal you get.
Signature dishes include the Lau Tom Ngon Pho, an excellent take on the classic Vietnamese prawn hot pot, and definitely one to try!
Fabulously popular with the local Hanoi crowd, the atmosphere is lively and vibrant. Calling ahead is advisable if you plan on eating at peak times.
