Throughout the country the cuisine of the Mekong makes up about half of what the Vietnamese eat. Vietnamese food in Can Tho is therefore regarded as some of the best in the country. Take a stroll along Cai Khe or De Tham and you’ll recognise many of the country’s favourites, on sale.
Every day from 4 p.m. until daylight the Night Market springs into life and is a good place to grab a quick bite. Move away from the pier area and prices fall and there is even more choice.
The best Vietnamese food in Can Tho includes: banh xeo (fried pancake), cha gio re (spring rolls), hu tieu (noodle soup), banh khot (miniature pancakes). Whilst obviously seafood is found here, it is the Mekong River and its tributaries that provide most of the produce here. The majority of the seafood that you do see, arrives from Nha Trang and Vung Tau.
