With a population of over 90 million, the third largest ASEAN country, and an average age of 29, Vietnam offers an exciting future with enormous potential for continued economic growth. Meeting the recruitment needs of this fast-growing market, however, is a challenge. After more than 8 years in the WTO, the reality is that Vietnam’s workforce only partially meets the qualification requirements of local and foreign enterprises. At our clients’ companies, most middle managers (Directors or Department Managers) are local Vietnamese. There are a few Vietnamese, however, in foreign-invested enterprises that have risen to the top positions of CEO, CFO, or CIO. The talent pool of qualified Vietnamese C-level executives is small.
