Saigon is the motorcycle capital of the world. In fact, you will see more motorcycles instead of cars in the city. If you’re thinking of buying a motorbike, there are a lot of shops that sells brand new and secondhand units that you can check out. If you’re thinking of buying one, especially if you’re eyeing for a second hand unit, you’ll want to make sure that your unit is in good condition. Remember, motorcycles are a big purchase so you have to be careful and wise when doing so. Check the condition of the frame, the check the chain, take a look at the tires, and most importantly check the electronics.
An area in Phu Nhuan District has rows upon rows of used motorbikes to choose from. The area between Truong Quoc Dung and Phan Xích Long on Hoang Van Thu has several used motorbike shops. Also, check out the area around Nguyen Trọng Tuyen on Phan Đình Phùng for more bikes.
Most of these dealers do not speak English and it is best to bring a translator along with a mechanic you can trust to help you with your purchase. You can also find motorbikes for sale on websites such as Craigslist Vietnam and expat.com. There are a number of Vietnamese sites such as 5giay.vn, chodocu.com, tinhte.com and vatgia.com that also have bikes, though the sites are only available in Vietnamese.
District 5 At the intersection of Nguyen Tri Phuong and Tran Hung Dao in District 5 is another big market for used motorbikes.
