Most Vietnamese are very early risers and are very punctual people. As the old saying goes, “the early bird gets the worm” –something that is taken seriously and is applied, especially in the business center. Expats are expected to be punctual and be respectful of time. Business in Ho Chi Minh City typically begin at 7am to 8am, with offices usually closing between 4pm to 6pm. Weekends are an exception as many offices are closed but some businesses are open for half a day until noon on Saturdays. Virtually, all business shuts down during the workweek lunch breaks from noon to 1:30pm – unless you’re a food vendor whose services are usually in demand and customers are at peak during these hours.
