In Vietnam, it is customary for all local staff to be paid an additional month’s salary for Tết holiday, so this should be factored into your staff budget.

If you have a housekeeper or domestic helper, she may return late from her province after holidays. This is the one time of year that many people get to see their families properly so anticipate leave extensions. Your other options are to impose strict rules before allowing her to leave, or promise a lot of extra lì xì (lucky Tết money) if she returns on time.
