One of the joys of moving into a new flat or house is designing it exactly the way you want it. Luckily, Saigon is chock-full of homeware shops. Most Vietnamese find these items at local markets, like those found on “furniture street,” Ngo Gia Tu in District 10 between Ly Thai To and Nguyen Chi Thanh. There are also an increasing number of traditional furniture and mid- to high-end shops for those looking to spruce up their home.
HCMC is awash with IKEA-like home-furnishing shops, specialised markets and whole streets dedicated to a certain product.
One of the easiest ways to find what you need is to go online and browse through online stores or groups. It saves you time and effort of going from shop to shop and you avoid the heat and traffic of the busy streets.
There are many websites and Facebook groups that cater to expatriates in Vietnam. We list a few here:
Facebook Groups

››Phú Mỹ Hưng Neighbours
››Saigon Expats
››Buy and Sell in HCMC

››vietnam.craigslist.org
There are a couple of other websites such as vatgia.com and 5giay.vn. Unfortunately they are only available in Vietnamese, but if you want to test the capabilities of Google Translate, there are some great deals to be found.
If you’re more into the physical experience of buying furniture, Saigon has home and office furniture shops selling a variety of items that you can visit. With each shop having their own focus so whether you’re dressing up your home or setting up an office (or maybe even a home office), you will surely be able to find furniture for your space which is very important for everyday life.
