There are about 9,000 tonnes of rubbish collected everyday in Ho Chi Minh City alone. On a domestic level, rubbish collection in Saigon varies from district to district. For example, if you have a house in D2 you will pay a monthly fee for rubbish collection and street sweeping, while in an apartment you will not see a separate bill but both services will be carried out regularly. Apartment buildings also sometimes have a central garbage system for the entire building and all the wastes are collected in bulk.

If you wish to help reduce your waste, there are also projects that advocate the recycling of plastic waste gathered by private garbage collectors. This project has received approval from the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee so you can ask the locals if they know of any. These projects promote doing your part to save mother earth.
