As with many Asian countries, it is probably best to assume that an eatery in Saigon or anywhere in Vietnam adds MSG (monosodium glutamate) to its dishes, unless the menu explicitly states otherwise. Many restaurants, sympathetic to some customers’ preferences for additive-free cuisine, make a point of promoting their MSG-free dishes on menus and marketing copy. Asians love savory food and the Vietnamese are no exception. They are known for that umami taste and MSG is believed to enhance. Most Asian household uses MSG you as the primary seasoning and a lot of these people were probably raised eating MSG.

There are still mixed opinions about the use of the seasoning. If you are concerned about it or just prefer her not to ingest MSG, look for restaurants that states that they are MSG free or simply ask the waiter or server.
