The smallest among Saigon’s districts is District 4, sandwiched between District 1 and District 7, with most traffic between those districts inevitably passing through it. This densely populated district once sported the reputation as one of the roughest parts of the city due to a vibrant past filled with organised crime and prolific kingpins. In the past decade or so District 4 has seen huge changes and that is no longer the case. It is also known for its cheap eats, local seafood and has some of the best and most unique street food in the city.
