We all have days when we just need to unwind and release the tension in our bodies, especially if you're an expat or traveller who is going around Vietnam. A massage is great for those days, but what if you’re feeling lazy and you don’t want to go out?
There are quite a few home service massage companies and masseuses in HCMC who work independently who may well come to you. Simply type the keywords “matxa tan nha” (which means massage at home) into Google search and you will easily find a list of services along with their contact numbers. Most of the websites are in Vietnamese so you might need to have Google translate it to English for you, and, if you do decide to call them and they don’t speak English, just give the phone over to a Vietnamese friend to ask about their services.
Beware, some may offer you a “happy ending”. If you’re not looking for that, feel free to say no – no pressure!
The fees for home service massage may vary depending on the duration of your massage or the type of massage you’re getting. To give you an idea, the price range starts from VND200,000 per hour, but it can get a bit more expensive than that.
If you want something more standardised, try the home massage package from Ngọc Anh Massage Centre where trained and certified masseuses will come to you. Of course, with this package, laziness comes at a price: you will have to buy 10 sessions at VND350,000 each, and use them within one year. You can purchase this package at the centre itself, 31 Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm, D1 or 36-38 Nguyễn Cư Trinh, D1. And remember: when it comes to massage therapists, size does not matter, only skill and strength.
