Fusion Resort Phu Quoc Turns One, Gets Better

When it comes to getaways based on the fundamental holiday pillars of relaxation and wellbeing, Fusion is a brand name synonymous with both. Last month, its flagship resort on Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam turned one, but as City Pass Guide found out, far from being satisfied with their early success, self-improvement remains high on the agenda.

Fusion Phu Quoc

On Vietnam’s tropical island jewel that is Phu Quoc, most resorts have a ‘build it and they will come’ mentality. They erect multi-storey hotel complexes and sell rooms in a stunning location and leave it at that. Fusion Resort Phu Quoc is proud to say they’re differentwhat they sell is very much an experience.

VIP

“We target a feeling”, said Fusion Resort Phu Quoc’s Operation Manager Mauricio Pacheco, when speaking to City Pass Guide this week.

“We expect every one of our guests to leave the resort feeling like a VIP, and a big part of that is our all-inclusive spa and wellness centre, Maia. It’s at the heart of the resort and of everything we do.”

“As part of every single guests’ stay we encourage them to try at least one spa treatment and join one class every day”, Mauricio continued. “We have yoga, tai chi, steam and sauna rooms, trained massage therapists, beauty treatments, reflexology, all-natural body scrubs and wraps . . . At most hotels, you’ll pay millions of VND or more for these types of services, but here we don’t want our guests to hesitate when it comes to their health and relaxation, so we don’t charge a penny - it’s all included.”

It’s a point of difference that hasn’t gone unnoticed. The resort’s TripAdvisor page overflows with glowing testimonials centred on exactly this, with words like ‘zen’ and ‘paradise’ used frequently.

Maia Spa & Wellness centre

Even before they added six new therapy spaces to it last montheach with its own private outdoor showerMaia Spa & Wellness centre was the largest of its kind on the island, covering an impressive 120,664 square feet, or 11,210 square metres.

Built at the centre of the resort around its own pepper garden, it contains numerous pepper orchids that are local to the island. This and a number of other tropical herbs and spices all make their way into their deluxe treatments. The resort’s website suggests that you shouldn’t leave without experiencing their ‘Natural Living Pepper’ treatment.

“What we like to do at Fusion is always deliver more than our visitors expect”, Mauricio told City Pass Guide.

‘The all-inclusive spa treatment concept has proven to be very popular. Our visitors love the flexibility of getting a treatment at a time that suits them and then enjoying everything the resort has to offer while feeling totally rejuvenated and relaxed.”

Rooms to Improve

Aside from putting the ‘relax’ in relaxation, there are several other aspects of daily life at Fusion Phu Quoc that guests love.

Facilitated by the resort’s dedicated team of ‘Fusionistas’, who are there to look after you from the minute you arrive, some creative extras include the ‘Breakfast Anywhere, Anytime’ concept, which allows hungry guests to eschew the notion of a crowded 10 a.m. buffet; the weekly street food market, showcasing the best of local cuisine; and quite simply the private plunge pools that come with each and every one of the property’s spacious one or two-bedroom villasall mere steps away from one of Phu Quoc’s most pristine white sand beaches.

Given these riches, it’s really not a surprise that despite being open for just over twelve months, Fusion has been forced to expand. As of last month, they cut the ribbon on eight new thatched-roof abodes (25 more are in the works) that according to the resort’s press release, each give a ‘nod to coastal living’.

Offering views of verdant jungle on one side, and the neighbouring river on the other, their earthy interiors feature custom-made sunken tubs and floor-to-ceiling glass doors that lead out to plunge pools and floating hammocks.

Not satisfied with those additions, a new multi-purpose function room has also been added, perfect for business meetings or an intimate wedding. In addition, a beach bar inspired by local fishing boats has already received rave reviewsthe perfect spot for an evening sundowner.

Fusion Phu Quoc

To celebrate it all - not to mention the launch of the ‘Mini Maia’ kids’ club offering a host of authentic hourly activities for active childrenthe resort is making a ‘First Anniversary Special Offer’, which gives guests who book as two adults and stay from now until September 30, 2018, 35% off the best available online rate on one of their Pool Garden Villas.

The booking includes the “Breakfast Anywhere, Anytime” service, all-inclusive daily spa treatments, a scheduled pick-up and drop-off airport shuttle, a shuttle bus to and from Duong Dong town centre and all-inclusive wellness activities including yoga and tai chi classes, kayaking and biking as well as the Mini Maia kids' club.
