Lush: A Club For All

drink - Saigon/HCMC: Dec. 23, 2016

Saigon’s hottest nightspot, Lush is offering superb corporate and private buyout packages to its customers. Fancy booking an entire nightclub for you and your friends?

If you are looking for a venue for your office party or have a group of friends in town and wish to spend an exciting night with them, Lush could be exactly what you are looking for. Attracting partygoers six days a week (it’s closed on Mondays), Lush opens its doors at 8 p.m. and doesn’t close them until much, much later.

While other city centre entertainment venues have come and gone, Lush has run continuously and successfully for 12 years. The club has a great mix of Vietnamese, Japanese, Korean and Western regulars. I met up with Brian Sweet, director of marketing and special events, a New Yorker with 14 years of nightclub experience in Las Vegas, to discuss the latest happenings at the D1 nightspot.

The general manager, David Sosa, is also from Las Vegas. Together these guys run a tight ship and their professionalism is evident throughout the venue.

A Medley of Fun Environments

Through the main entrance, guests enter to the side of a front room which plays hip hop and can hold about 100 people. There is a separate bar with its own music system, enabling a different ambience to the rest of the venue. Delving further into the club, the main room is the dance room and features a central bar with the vibes coming in the form of EDM. There are seating areas with couches along the back, as well as standing tables.

Upstairs, the balcony is the VIP area offering four couches and 12 more standing tables. This creates a more easy-going space, from where guests can enjoy watching the dancers whilst relaxing with a cocktail. Favourites are: the Lychee Martini, a superb Whiskey Chai Cocktail, and the signature drink, the Lush Strawberry. To the rear there is a kind of chill-out area that is partially open-sided.

A Club for All

Lush is one of the few venues that many people have heard of before they visit the city; word spreads fast when a venue gets things right. Backpackers love it, travellers and locals love it and successful international CEOs love it. This really is a venue for everyone. Lush has fun and management emphasises that this is the most important concept of the venue. The dress code is very much casual, with just about anything except flip-flops and tank tops considered acceptable.

The team at Lush is now reaching out to an even larger audience by expanding its “buyout” nights. Corporate clients in particular can take advantage of some great deals. Whether a party of 10 or a huge group of up to 900, you can book all or part of the venue for your special night out.

Lush can accommodate all sizes of parties by either sectioning off part of the club, or indeed closing the entire venue for an evening. The hours can either be during the normal club opening times or special hours, catering for events like cocktail parties.

Luscious Treats

On the food menu, the club offers a good variety of Vietnamese and international cuisine. Mi xao bo, calamari, chicken wings, bo luc lac and big servings of fries are popular with guests, as is the enormous “Luscious Fruit” platter.

Winter Wonderland

The Christmas season is almost upon us and for this, the club will transform itself into a winter wonderland. From 23 December, Lush will take on a decidedly festive appearance both inside and out, and Santa and the elves will be in attendance. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will see big party nights with lucky draw prizes hanging on the Christmas tree. Prizes will include gift certificates to local bars, restaurants, spas, gyms and other city businesses.

New Year’s Eve will feature a huge party night, as has become the pattern over the years.
