Mandarin Oriental’s First 5-Star Hotel Project in Saigon

The first 5-star luxury hotel project in Vietnam from Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will be developed at Union Square Saigon.

The group made the announcement at the Saigon Times Square Building on 16 May 2018.

Located within Union Square, the building was described as a “proud gem in the heart of Saigon” due to its prime location in the city, with all four facades adjacent to prominent streets: Nguyen Hue, Dong Khoi, Le Thanh Ton and Le Loi.

The new hotel will be called Mandarin Oriental Saigon Hotel, a destination for Saigon residents as well as domestic and international tourists.

Scheduled to open in 2019, Mandarin Oriental Saigon will feature 228 rooms, six restaurants and bars, a spa, gym and outdoor pool of international standards. Besides, there will be many other multifunctional spaces for events and conferences. This project will be the perfect destination for those who are passionate about lavish experiences.

Mandarin Oriental Saigon Hotel is designed by a poet of the design world, architect and designer Patricia Urquiola. She is also the designer of the renowned Mandarin Oriental Barcelona in Spain. Urquiola now is one of the most famous interior designers with many award-winning interior masterpieces and architectural projects all over the world.

With the design orientation directly managed, created and decorated by Patricia Urquiola, Mandarin Oriental Saigon is expected to become the highlight of Union Square, contributing to the perfection of “The proud gem in the heart of Saigon”.

The announcement comes as Vietnam welcomes increasing numbers of tourists.

According to the latest report of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, in 2017 the domestic tourism market served 73 million domestic tourists and 13 million international tourists, a 30 percent increase from 2016. For the first time, Vietnam was listed among countries of the fastest growth in tourism, ranking sixth in tourist attractions with the fastest growth of the world and first in Asia by World Tourism Organization.

The goals of Vietnam’s tourism officials in the next three years is to serve 82 million domestic tourists, attract 17 to 20 million international tourists, achieve revenues of US$35 billion from tourists, contribute 10 percent of GDP, and reach export value through tourism of US$20 billion.
