District 3

WHAT TO DO IN D3?

Located right next to District 1 in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, District 3 is a great destination if you are looking for something other than a crowded, busy and fancy neighborhood.

You will find that life in this Ho Chi Minh City district moves at a slower pace. Covered with tall trees and many French-styles villas, the unique beauty of District 3 is derived from gorgeous construction including Ky Dong Church and the Archbishop's Palace as well as meaningful museums such as the Southern Vietnam Women's Museum and the War Remnants Museum.

This area is a center of Buddhist beliefs and practices, since there are quite a number of pagodas. Noteworthy pagodas include: Xa Loi Pagoda, Vinh Nghiem Pagoda (the largest pagoda in Ho Chi Minh City) and the Jade Emperor Pagoda (one of the most famous religious buildings in the city, constructed over 100 years ago).

You may want to have yourself a bowl of Vietnamese sour pho noodle (pho chua) on Nguyen Thien Thuat street and some water fern cakes (banh beo) on Ky Dong street nearby. Try some significant food in Vuon Chuoi Market on Nguyen Dinh Chieu street or grab tons of street food around Turtle Lake and Marie Curie high school. For those who are fans of snails, Nguyen Thuong Hien street is well-known as a snail street in District 3.
