Everyone looks for that perfect romantic setting for Valentine’s Day. Many prefer to stay in. However, what if you fancy getting out of the smog and clogged up streets of Saigon and heading off on a romantic getaway somewhere? Where are those places that say “I love you”, better than the rest? I took a look at some of the great romantic spots around Ho Chi Minh City.
If your loved one loves nature they’ll love Cat Tien National Park. Just 150km north of Ho Chi Minh City it is 720 square kilometres of mainly lowland tropical forestry. It was expanded in 1998 upon the discovery of Vietnamese Javan Rhinos, in order to give them protected breeding grounds. In addition to these animals, Asian elephants, sun bears and the huge gaur can still be found in the wild. An excellent place to stay is the Ta Lai Longhouse, an ecolodge and retreat that is one of the most restful places imaginable. How romantic is getting at one with nature in an idyllic setting?
The Bassac River is a distributary of both the Tonle Sap and Mekong Rivers. This delightful river flows through the wonderful scenery that forms the Mekong Delta. Any way of viewing this amazing natural Vietnam attraction is worthwhile; seeing it in a superb Bassac Cruise Boat is exceptional. The company has three traditional built wooden cruise ships. This is a 5 star floating hotel in which to watch some of the world’s most amazing scenery as it slips by your cabin window.
