Ho Chi Minh City is one of the most exciting cities in Southeast Asia; there is no shortage of adventure to be had here. So, where do you go to catch all this fun and excitement? To be honest one of the most adventurous things you can do here is simply wander off without a map. This city is a myriad of tiny alleyways and small streets. Many of these are dead ends, making finding your way home one big adventure. Some would say simply getting on a motorbike is adventure enough, though when you’ve been here a few weeks, you’ll wonder what the fuss was about.
For those looking for something a bit more structured there are some incredible tours and trips available. Vespa tours starting in the Pham Ngu Lao area of District 1 are a perfect example. A full day ride to the deep South of Vietnam on one of these tours will bring out the Indiana Jones in you. You can either ride yourself or travel as a passenger with an experienced driver. This will get you off the beaten track, though. Vietnam Vespa Adventures is a reliable tour organizer.
Fancy your chances in the battlefield? Head over the Saigon Bridge in District 2 with a group of friends and check out Paintball Saigon. They have all the necessary safety equipment and the layout is good. After buying off energy for a couple of hours you can relax in the bar with a cold beer and some great food.
If you get out to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels you will get a glimpse of the serious circumstances endured by Vietcong soldiers in the war. In horrendous conditions riddled with disease they stayed underground for months on end, hiding from the Americans. You can also go on the gun range here and fire an AK47 assault rifle.
The Mekong Delta is within very easy reach of the city and there is no shortage of adventure here. Trips in small boats along tiny rivulets with overhanging trees are amazing. Some of the traditional wooden bridges are pretty hair raising especially if you are cycling.
Both within the city and in the outlying areas there are many adventures to be enjoyed.
