Fortuna Hotel Hanoi lights their Christmas tree 1st December and will top it with a little extra cheer.
The hotel’s lighting ceremony centres around a gingerbread house built by participants. Attendees can buy a “gingerbread brick” for between VND300,000 to VND500,000 to help complete the house.
The lighting ceremony starts at 6 p.m. in the hotel’s lobby, accompanied by cocktails and snacks.
The gingerbread house is more “house” than your typical miniature dessert abode. Fortuna Hotel Hanoi’s chefs have planned a 2.5-metre tall structure made of thousands of pounds of sugar and flour.
“Gingerbread has kind of gone out of fashion,” Albert Leong, the hotel’s general manager said in a statement. “[S]o we want to bring back to the traditional, but on a showstopping scale!”
Funds generated to build the pretend house will be used to complete a real bridge for the 400 impoverished residents and children who live in Son La province in northeastern Vietnam. The bridge construction started in July 2017. The finished product will benefit the 75 students who live in the area.
