One of the four sacred temples built in each of the cardinal directions to protect Hanoi's citadel from evil spirits, this Taoist temple was completed in the 11th Century. The temple's namesake spirit, Huyen Thien Tran Vu, is remembered for feats like driving away the ghost in Co Loa citadel and protecting Vietnam's northern border. Quan Thanh Temple is located near Hanoi's West Lake.
Quan Thanh Temple, near the junction of Thanh Nien and Quan Thanh near Hanoi's West Lake, is also known as Tran Vu temple in honour of Huyen Thien Tran Vu, a brave soul who chased away many ghosts and demons during the construction of Co Loa citadel.
