Van Phuc Village

Van Phuc Village, a mecca of all things silk, is a great place to stock up on fabric, pre-made clothing and scarves at prices slightly cheaper than in central Hanoi. If your next stop is the tailor, the shopkeeper can tell you how much fabric you'll need. While it was once a hotspot for bargain hunters, local shops have caught on. The selection is still excellent, but prices are no longer rock bottom.

From the centre of Hanoi it takes only 30 minutes by motorbike to reach Van Phuc Village. Positioned on the banks of Nhue Thi River, the village is famous for its sericulture, weaving and silk, and more than 90% of the households in the village are involved in some aspect of the silk trade! The silk of Van Phuc Village is made on traditional looms. Make a half day of it from Hanoi, and pick up a beautiful shirt, tie, dress or handicraft item while you're here.
