Cinematheque

The coolest hidden cinema spot in Hanoi, Cinematheque is run by volunteer film lovers. The films screened here can hardly be found elsewhere in town and there's a pleasant cafe in the same courtyard with live music performances. Hunker down with your friend or loved one in Cinematheque's 89-seat theatre on Hai Ba Trung in Hanoi and enjoy state-of-the-art movie sound and vision.

Cinematheque, run as a membership organisation, was established in 2004 and is a non-profit joint venture between the Viet Nam General Book Company (SAVINA) and Discovery Communication PTE Ltd of Singapore. Films screened at Cinematheque are presented in their original form and included English subtitles for non-English language flicks. Sample a lemongrass martini or steak and chips in the cinema's courtyard bar and restaurant.
