This was announced after thorough assessment of the equipment, rescue abilities, the quality of tour guides and other safety requirements.

The ten selected companies are Viet Challenge Tours, PTA, Highland Holiday Tours, Highland Sport Travel, Dalat Adventure Tours, Tac Ke Xinh, Viet Motion Tours, Viet Adventure Tours’ Dalat branch, Dalat Tourist and Saigon-Madagui Resort.

In March, the tourism authority trained 60 tour guides and employees of the ten adventure tourism companies.

Six spots have been chosen for adventure tour activities, namely Tuyen Lam Lake (Dalat), Datanla Waterfall (Dalat), the Golden Valley (Lac Duong), Madagui (Da Huoai District), Dasar Waterfall (Lac Duong District), Da Don River (Lam Ha District).

The licensed adventure sports include ziplining and kayaking through waterfalls and streams, artificial rock climbing and trekking.

Five people, including four foreigners, died in Da Lat in the past year after taking part in unlicensed adventure tourism trips.

In February, a Polish tourist and his Vietnamese tour guide lost their lives after ziplining through a waterfall to explore a banned cave.

The same time one year ago, three British tourists, including two women, died on ziplines at Datanla Waterfall, a popular tourist spot in Dalat.
