HOSPITALS AND CLINICS IN SAIGON

Vietnam’s healthcare system is shaped by its tropical location and the consequent illnesses, by shifting demographics, and by rapid industrialisation and urbanisation. Even in the country’s economic powerhouse Saigon, healthcare and medicine is still underdeveloped compared to hospitals in the Western world and surrounding countries like Thailand, Singapore or Malaysia.

However, the quality of medical care in Vietnam is slowly catching up thanks to updated technology and international-grade doctors, whether patients are seeking a trustworthy doctor who specialises in cardiology, aesthetics, eye care or gynaecology. Those living in Saigon or visiting on travel have access to dental clinics as well as general hospitals and clinics with good standards and cheap services to meet their health needs. Consequently, medical tourism is booming. What’s more, the local vaccination programme is well established.

International Hospitals and Clinics

Ho Chi Minh City is home to a number of good-quality international hospitals and clinics, the most famous of which are Victoria Healthcare Internationals Clinics with several clinics across the city, FV Hospital in District 7 and CMI near Notre Dame Cathedral.

Here, you’ll pay more than at local hospitals, but you’ll be treated at international standards. The prices are still very affordable compared to other countries. Doctors speak fluent English and often also French. However, more complicated interventions will have to be done abroad.

Local Hospitals and Clinics

Should you need general medical attention, experienced local surgeons and obstetricians stand at the ready. Private hospitals perform at a high level and the best government hospitals have good expertise and technologies with exemplary procedural outcomes.

In some cases, hygiene and long waiting time may be an issue in public hospitals, but you will still be taken care of and treated well. Those seeking care as well as soft skills such as kindness, communication and understanding may be better off at private hospitals and clinics.
