Việt Nam announces plan to boost Mekong tourism

Cần Thơ City and Phú Quốc Island will be developed into Mekong Delta tourism centres over the next five years, while Mỹ Tho City in Tiền Giang province will be made a tourism hub for the region's eastern tourism zone.

An overall master plan for tourism development in the Mekong Delta region until 2020, with a vision to 2030, has been approved by Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc. The plan aims to develop tourism in line with the region's potential and advantages, affirm the region's position in Việt Nam's tourism map and enhance the position and role of tourism in the region's development, thus improving the lives of locals and promoting the region to the country and the world.

Small firms in Vietnam lack access to bank credit, business group says

Only 30 percent of small and medium-sized companies manage to take out loans from banks.

Vietnam’s 600,000 small and medium-sized enterprises continue to grapple with limited access to credit even though they play an important role in the economy and account for 52 percent of total employment, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) said. Only 30 percent of private businesses of small and medium sizes, better known as SMEs, have managed to secure bank loans, according to latest data from VCCI, an influential group that represents the business community in the country. Statistics also showed that the amount of credit provided to SMEs only accounted for 3 percent of all outstanding loans at local banks.

President confident of reaching USD6 billion trade target with Italy

The target of USD6 billion in two-way trade between Vietnam and Italy in 2017-2018 is within reach since the Vietnam-EU free trade agreement is going to be sealed, President Tran Dai Quang said.

The Vietnamese State leader made the remark at the Vietnam-Italy Business Forum in Rome on November 23rd as part of his State-level visit to the European country. Vietnam wishes that Italy will open its market for Vietnamese farm produce and seafood, President Quang said. He stated that Vietnam encourages Italian firms to invest in mechanical engineering, garment-textiles, leather footwear and timber and food processing, as well as cooperation between the two countries’ small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Vietlott's sales revenue increased 4.6 times in less than two months. Vietlott, the operator of an American-style lottery game, has posted a robust jump in sales recently after it announced four big winners within a month.

The company’s sales revenue rose 4.6 times in less than two months, to VND734 billion ($32.1 million) as of November 20, from just VND159 billion on September 30, Nguyen Thanh Dam, deputy director of the state-run company told a press briefing on Wednesday. Sales from its major jackpot game, the Mega 6/45, were VND730.5 billion ($31.9 million), or 99.5 percent of the total revenue.
