HCM City sees rise in mother-to-child HIV transmission

Many hospitals in HCM City have detected more children who are infected HIV from their mothers.

Dr. Truong Huu Khanh from infectious disease ward from Paediatrics 1 Hospital said that the ward used to receive 1-2 new HIV-infected cases who were children in previous years. However, between January and September this year alone, the figure was up to 14 children who mostly come from other localities and are living in HCM City. So far this year, Gia Dinh People's Hospital has diagnosed six children who contracted HIV from their mothers. Meanwhile, the figure for Hung Vuong Hospital is three during the same period.

According to the HCM City Department of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control, the city detected 22 new cases of mother-to-child HIV transmission in the first eight months of this year, four higher than the same phase of last year. New Zealand pledges support for Vietnam’s development

(VOVworld)-Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh has called for expanded economic ties between Vietnam and New Zealand to bring bilateral trade to 1.7 billion USD by 2020, a goal set by the two countries’ senior leaders.

Euro Auto, the official BMW importer in Viet Nam, has denied Government accusations of trade fraud, saying it had obeyed the law and protected customers’ rights and interests.

Oil leak from sunken barge on Dong Nai River

Relevant forces in the southern province of Dong Nai yesterday arrived in Cai River, a branch of Dong Nai River, to treat oil leak from sunken barge. Barge numbered SG 0595 with loading of 500 tons driven by 38 year old Huynh Cong Danh from the Mekong delta province of Ca Mau to carry material in the river section on November 30 evening . While crane was working, it made the barge sunken, spilling 100 liters of oil.

At that time, captain, sailor, one woman and two kids were in the barge. When the barge was sunken, the woman and two kids were rescued safely; accordingly no report of human loss. However, there was oil leak in the river. Novaland files for HCM City listing

Nova Land Investment Group Corporation (Novaland) has filed for domestic listing on the HCM Stock Exchange (HoSE), the southern stock exchange said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to HoSE, Novaland filed for listing of nearly 589.4 million shares, worth VNĐ5.89 trillion (nearly US$262 million). Phan Lê Hòa, Novaland's director of Capital Markets and Investor Relations, told reporters in October that Novaland was valued between $1.2-1.4 billion and the company would complete its listing in December 2016.

Of the total capital, the percentage of free-floating shares would be between 20-25 per cent and 70-80 per cent of the stake would be sold to foreign investors, Hòa said. On Tuesday, news hub Deal Street Asia cited a report on Bloomberg which said Novaland had sold 10 per cent of the realty company's stake worth $120 million to 18 foreign investors. China remains biggest investor in Cambodia

01 December, 2016 - China is the biggest investor in Cambodia, with cumulative investment exceeding 14 billion USD from 1994 to October 2016, according to the Council for Development of Cambodia.

The information was released at the Cambodia – China Business Forum that took place in Phnom Penh on December 1, gathering 600 entrepreneurs and senior officials of the two countries. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said the forum is of significance to the implementation of the “One Belt and One Road” initiative.

He also spoke highly of the bilateral partnership in all spheres, particularly in trade, investment, banking, finance, and tourism, saying trade revenue between the two countries hit 4.4 billion USD in 2015, an annual increase of 18 percent. Traffic accidents kill nearly 8,000

01 December, 2016 - Traffic accidents killed 7,907 people and injured 17,184 others between December 16, 2015 and November 15, 2016.

Four stabbed to death in Ha Giang

01 December, 2016 - Four people, including a two-year-old girl, were stabbed to death in the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang on Thursday morning.

The suspect has been arrested, said Major General Ho Sy Tien, head of public security ministry's criminal police department. The incident took place around 4.30am in Tan Trinh Commune's Ta Ngao Village, said Nguyen Tien Dung, chairman of Quang Bình District's People's Committee. Phu Minh Tuan, 32, allegedly attacked his family members Phu Lao Ta, 59, Phu Thi Nguyet, 2, Tai Thi Mo, 51, and Phu Lao San, 16, with a knife. Vietnam, Australia signed Vietnam-Australia Action Plan 2016-2019

01 December, 2016 - On November 30, at the talks with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said that Australia continues to see Vietnam as one of its key partners in Asia-Pacific.
