citypassguide

The memorial is in a small, peaceful park in District 3. Thich Quang Duc was a Buddhist monk who self-immolated in 1963 to protest the persecution of Buddhists in Southern Vietnam. His act was seen around the world and continues to be a powerful symbol of passive resistance. In 2010, a statue of Thich Quang Duc surrounded by bronze flames was added.
