What to See | point of interest in Ho Chi Minh City

, Vietnam

Bordering District 1 in the centre of Saigon, District 3 is quieter, more local and a touch more scenic than its disorderly neighbour. The tree-lined avenues snake around a smattering of foreign embassies, French colonial buildings and up and coming dining venues competing with District 1's historical advantage. Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, the largest in HCMC, and Xa Loi Pagoda are all located within District 3's borders.

Many French-style villas dot the landscape of this Ho Chi Minh City district. You will find that life moves at an ever-so-slightly slower pace in District 3. It may have something to do with all the mature trees, colonial buildings and pagodas - including the biggie, the Jade Emperor Pagoda. While in the 'hood check out the Women's Museum, War Remnants Museum, Ky Dong Church and the Archbishop's Palace.

Local Insight:

Don’t miss Turtle Lake, a giant concrete formation in the middle of a roundabout that makes up for its lack of water with local activity at night.
